I am the designer and maker of every piece of Mimi Favre Studio Fine Jewelry. My knowledge of diverse historical jewelry styles combined with carefully selected gemstones inspires my eclectic fine jewelry collection. With reverence for traditional gold smithing I strive to create classic and timeless contemporary designs that will retain intrinsic value as future heirlooms.
My design process usually begins with a sketch. I use real gemstones and reclaimed 18k gold or sterling silver purchased from ethical suppliers. I either carve the original model in wax or fabricate it in metal. Each piece is individually hand finished in my studio workshop. Experience has taught me that beyond good design, quality materials and craftsmanship matter.
Designing and creating original fine jewelry is a full time pursuit. My career began when I moved to NYC after attaining a BFA in Metals from RIT. I apprenticed for a number of years in a jewelry trade workshop with German master jewelers where I learned the intricacies of fine jewelry. Our clients were notable antique and private jewelry dealers in New York City. I later worked as a bench jeweler and model maker with a highly specialized jewelry manufacturer also located in New York City where I executed one of a kind designs of several luxury Jewelry stores. Combined, these years gave me a privileged insider experience into the world of exceptional fine jewelry.
I'm a fan of the past great jewelry designers Renee Lalique, Georg Jensen, Fulco Verdura and Seamen Schepps. My other interests include gardening, botanical painting and the decorative arts.
Purchasing jewelry is a very personal experience especially when it is made from precious metals and gemstones. I maintain a curated collection of gemstones and pearls for future projects. I consider custom requests. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding sizing, materials or methods.
